This fall we will be in St. Albert, which is a change for us. I have not worked in St. Albert since 2017 - it will be great to be back! There is something so different about the community there, it is still small enough for everyone to be friendly and you to run into people you know all of the time. I will have my fall & Thanksgiving offerings available on my website shortly - with many designs featuring one of my favorite roses - High and Magic - which is mostly a yellow ro

I am part of many larger groups of wedding vendors, business owners, florists, etc. Some of these are formal networking groups with weekly meetings, some have monthly meetings, some are Facebook groups to bounce ideas, others are Facebook pages with vendors and brides and grooms. There are so many resources out there! One question I see often is "How can I ensure my wedding vendor (photographer, planner, florist, venue, etc.) is reputable and will not let me down/ghost me?".

Flowers are a luxury item. I just want to let that sentence hang there like that. Flowers are a luxury item. That is something I have started hearing more and more frequently. I have been working in the floral design world for 12 years now, and it is a new thing to hear this - but flowers have always been a luxury item if you really do think about it. I am not talking run-of-the-mill bouquets from the grocery store. I am not even knocking a bouquet from a grocery store. Ther

This week I wanted to do a breakdown of a bridal bouquet I had made a few weeks back. I feel this bouquet is a great example of putting the trust in the professionals hands! This bride came to me completely unsure of what she wanted, not an inspo pic to be seen. I had shown her some on my Instagram page, as well as some on my phone and Pinterest. Nothing had quite caught her eye completely, but she had some she liked. Fast forward to a message on Instagram later in the day o

Currently you all know that we are located in north Edmonton, at 12644 137 Ave, where we have been since October of 2021. Before this we had been in Bonnie Doon Mall from December 2017. We are moving again! This time, the move will not be as far as it has been in the past. We do not have all of the details yet - but we will have them to you soon! Our new space will be in St. Albert, it is only a 15 minute drive from our current location, and we will still be able to accommod

Have you ever seen a picture of a peony when they are out of season and wondered where it came from? You were probably looking at a garden rose and just didn't know it! They come in many varieties, colours and shapes. They can look very similar to a peony, and even have a similar price tag. They are an excellent choice if you are looking for peonies but it just isn't the right season! This photo to the left is a garden rose variety called Baronesse, taken from one of my w

When I first started my business when people inquired about "wedding packages" it was not something I wanted to offer. I pictured every wedding as custom to every bride - because every wedding is special and different in it's own way! Custom doesn't have to mean expensive, and I have never charged more just because it is "custom". You pay for what you get when it comes to weddings with us - if you want carnations, you pay carnation price $ , If you want orchids and peonies, y

Bird of paradise are a stunning orange flower with a touch of blue between. They are not common here in Canada, and definitely do not grow naturally, as they are native to South Africa. They were actually introduced to Hawaii, and not native to the islands as many would believe. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary - they are definitely a show-stopper! When attached to the plant, bird of paradise open beautifully and bloom on their own as shown in the pictur

Most people think that fruits and flowers would go hand-in-hand. Both fresh, colourful and smell great! What many don't know, is they cause cut flowers to go bad faster. Why? Most fruits, if not all, release something called ethylene gas. Understanding what ethylene gas is can be critical to fresh flower care. I will go more into this if you keep reading! "Ethylene is a natural, odorless, and harmless plant hormone and gas released by fruits as they mature." - Google's AI Ove

Well, to answer this question quickly and simply - AT LEAST 7 days before you need it, but the more time you give us the better! 10 days would be amazing and make me and my staff so happy - this was it gives us time to order in the exact flowers in the exact colours you want without telling you "Sorry, we didn't order that this week," or, "We only bring that in if we know there is a grad,". We are always happy to accommodate last minute requests with flowers that we have on h

I graduated over a decade ago, and I am starting to feel "old" and "out-of-touch" with the kids these days. I remember when it was a corsage for a wrist or a boutonniere to pin on a chest. Now it has evolved to bouquets that are simply for a "insta-worthy" photo op! These are typically used for the cap and gown day, unlike the corsage and boutonniere that are used for the dinner/banquet/dance portion of graduation. As long as the flowers are taken home, given a fresh cut and

Many people come in or call and ask if we have daisies every week! But there are different things that each person means. Some mean gerbera daisy (seen in the photo to the left), some mean daisy chrysanthemums, some mean chamomile, which is part of the Asteraceae family (and looks almost identical to a shasta daisy, which is also part of the Asteraceae family). We carry gerbera daisy and chrysanthemums year-round. The gerbera come in the daisy style, as well as pomponi and pi

Back in early March, I went on a cruise with my massage therapist. Some time last year she said "I could really use a trip to Mexico or something" and so I said to her "My friend is a travel agent and told me about this great deal he has on a cruise coming up...want to come with me?". And off we went on an adventure sorted by my friend Terry the Travel Guy that started in Puerto Rico, stopped in Aruba, Curacao, and the British Virgin Islands. Terry took care of booking the

This Easter I wanted to pop on here and share some information about flowers that are popular this time of year. Some hot ones are lilies, tulips, iris, hyacinth and daffodils. I have a past blog post ALL about spring flowers specifically if you want to read more here . It is mostly about tulips and daffodils, and why they should not be placed in the same vase together. Today I wanted to talk a little more about lilies, hyacinth and iris! Lilies and iris are generally found

Who knew that there were different lengths of roses and that this makes the size of the flower heads differ? When I started my own shop and began to order my own flowers, I found this out quickly! While ordering online, different wholesales offer different lengths of roses. I have seen up to 100 cm length roses before, but for this purpose, I am just going to talk about 40 cm, 50 cm and 60 cm roses. The 40 cm roses are quite short stems, quite small flower heads. These are t

Hello everyone! It has been a while since I have written a new blog post. For the upcoming holiday season I will be doing a collaboration with another local business – ABD Naturals. I recently met the owner Sawsen at a charity event, where we had clicked and I had told her I would love to come visit her business. She has a lovely spot in St. Albert Centre where she creates her all natural products without all of the preservatives and other harmful things. We had talked for

Poinsettia plants are actually native to Mexico and Central America, but they are commonly gifted and seen as a popular Christmas floral in North America. Due to being native to a warmer climate, poinsettia can be sensitive to the cold. There is a misconception that you can bring them outside when you buy them at a grocery store, right to your car. But this can risk freezing/shocking the plant. "In today's language of flowers poinsettias symbolize good cheer and success and
