Are you the lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you see it!) host of Thanksgiving dinner this year? Or are you a guest at a family or friends house? If you are hosting, be ready with some empty vases and wine glasses, as guests often bring gifts for the host/hostess of any dinner celebration! If you are the guest, keep reading to see some ideas of centerpieces, or other floral gifts to bring to your lovely hosts!
I don't know about you, but when I think of Thanksgiving, I am thinking of pumpkins! Whether you are a fan of pumpkin spice or not, I think we can all agree that pumpkins and a festive fall must. Check with your local florist to see what they are offering for arrangements in pumpkins. Some may offer one similar to the one you see on the left, which is in a ceramic pumpkin that can be kept for years to come, while others may offer fresh pumpkins that will fade with the flowers.
Another option for fresh flowers is to bring a loose bouquet! Do you know the hosts well, and realize they own many vases already? If so, bring a bouquet without the vase! Your local florist should have many options of bouquets you can bring (I know we do, if you are in Edmonton!). Include things like wheat, bunny tails, or even plume reeds to bring that fall feel to the dinner table! Many fall colors of roses and chrysanthemums are available at this time of year - think golds, burgundies, and browns.
Non Floral Options
- Wine - white pairs well with turkey if that is what you're having!
- Chocolate - you can't go wrong with chocolate, so many flavors available!
- Dessert - pumpkin pie is likely already on the menu, you could do a brownie!
