This Plant Can Survive Without Soil!

Updated: Aug 13, 2018

Tillandsia, AKA, air plants are the trendiest new plant on the shelves! It really does help that they are the easiest to take care of, and come in many different interesting shapes, sizes, and sometimes colors. Currently in our shop, we have tillandsia ionantha, tillandsia bulbosa, tillandsia streptophylla, and tillandsia balbisiana. The previous list does not mean we will not source and special order other varieties if you are looking for them

How do I care for my tillandsia?

Easily! Simply buy a spray bottle, set it to mist, and spray the plant every few days. While this is enough for short term care, 'bathe' your plant once a month. To do this, fill a bowl or other container that is deep enough to submerse the plant in water, and then let the plant soak for about 5 minutes. After this, you can return the plant to its home.

Where should I put it? Does it need sunlight? Does it need dirt?

Put it wherever you wish! It is not picky at all, nor does it need sunlight. You can simply set it on top of your dresser, put it in a bowl with pebbles, or in a sand terrarium! I do not recommend putting it in dirt, because it will need to get its monthly bath.
