Spring Wedding Flowers

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Weddings can happen at any time of year, but there is something especially exciting about a spring wedding. Nature is starting to burst, and it feels like a great time to celebrate love. Spring flowers are bright, joyful, and the perfect way to say, “I will love you forever.” And choosing something in season is a great way to say, “there will be money left over for your honeymoon!”

Here are some of the best spring flowers to include in a beautiful wedding bouquet or centrepiece.

Tulips

Tulips are a classic spring wedding flower. They come in several shades to fit into any colour scheme, plus they are sleek and classic and pair well with showier or more intricately petaled flowers in a mixed bouquet. Plus, a simple single tulip head looks wonderful as a boutonniere.

Daffodil/Narcissus

Although they do come in a variety of colours, the traditional yellow daffodil is a standout for a simple spring wedding bouquet. Although daffodils don’t play nice with other flowers (due to a sap they release when cut), for just one day (your day) they look wonderful when paired with other spring flowers like tulips. Just imagine a bouquet of bright yellow daffodils offset with some purple tulips and try not to think of spring!

Bonus: daffodils symbolize new beginnings, and isn’t that why we’ve gathered here on this day?

Irises

Irises are sophisticated and dramatic, while still being full of innocent, spring hope. Especially against a white or yellow backdrop, the classic blue iris is a shock of stunning colour. Irises are casual and chic but can be paired with roses or other blooms to make striking bouquets or arrangements for a spring wedding.

Anemones

If bright and colourful isn’t quite the look you are going for, white anemones are a great choice. They are in season in spring, and are perfect to make a white or pastel bouquet as a wonderful alternative. The pop of colour in the center might be all you need to add a burst of colour to your soft, romantic spring palette.

Gerbera Daisies

Gerbera daisies are a lovely choice to add a pop of bright and radiant color to your wedding décor. Symbolizing joy, and happiness they are seemingly fitting for your celebration. Available in a variety of colours, there is likely an option that will fit your theme perfectly. Plus, they are available year-round, so they are not only perfect for spring but anytime of the year!

There are many flowers that shine in a spring bouquet (sweet peas and freesia are other great spring wedding flowers, for instance). You can always ask us what’s in season for your wedding to make sure you are picking flowers that will be accessible and affordable. But, whatever you choose, we hope your wedding and your spring is full of love and hope.
